Team Description: The Search and Answers team at Company focuses on delivering the most relevant results and recommendations when users search for anything on Company. We provide this content to users in the form of Company Search and through Company Answers , our new gen AI product.

We are looking for a Senior Staff Machine Learning Engineer to lead our Relevance team and take our search systems to the next level. Our goal is to make Company Search the best place on the internet to find answers, opinions, and conversations. Companyors produce the most amazing content about every niche topic in the world – this underleveraged data coupled with modern advances in AI systems is presenting a unique opportunity to quickly build a new kind of search engine. You will design and build a large-scale system that can power highly relevant search experiences. You will work across multiple areas of the stack, incl. query understanding, retrieval, ranking, features, measurement, LLM-based answers etc, partnering deeply with PMs, org leads, and other XFN to deliver reliable, high quality systems that can help Company Search scale to a billions users.

• Delivers on technical initiatives that have significant company-wide impact
• Sets technical direction for the broader ML and Search teams at Company, able to identify opportunities and influence strategy for all of Company
• Mentors and grow Staff and Senior Staff engineers

Create a strong healthy engineering culture

• 15+ years of industry experience building systems for relevance driven products
• Subject matter expert in Search, recommendation, and ML systems, able to solve complex problems in these domains that few others can
• Deep understanding of how to build a sustainable software systems at a large scale engineering organization
• Experience in influencing larger (100+ engineers) organizations on technical direction/best practices
• Experience working with cross-functional teams such as design, product, business & data teams to deliver great experiences.
• High empathy, excellent communication skills, and the ability to find compromise working across the entire engineering org.

• Strong focus on user experience, usability, scalability, reliability and quality. You are an undying advocate for the user, and you have a deep intuition for how people & machines interact with software at scale.
