Luma Technologies is a small family owned/operated Aerospace company that manufactures LED Display Panels and switches for various Aircraft. We are seeking a full-time 40/hr per week position as a Engineering Support Technician (Electronics / PCB Troubleshooting) You will work with our team as the primary focal performing minor circuit board level troubleshooting, repair, rework of LED Display Panels down to the component level. Primarily solid-state LEDs driven by 28vdc/ground apply sources with some PLD applications as well. The candidate should have high level SMT solder and troubleshooting experience and must be able to document work performed. The candidate should be a hands-on problem solver with the capacity to quickly grasp and resolve technical problems with minimal support (once trained) and should be capable of solving real-world problems in the simplest and most cost-effective way. May assist in general assembly, test, and repair of aerospace LED Panels when not performing smt support work. Once trained and up to speed, you can expect to perform a variety of different manufacturing processes on any given day as opposed to the same repetitive thing day after day. Only those applicants with proven, relevant experience and/or a convincing desire to master a new vocation will be considered.

We are seeking a hands-on Engineering Support Technician with electronics assembly and troubleshooting experience to support the production and testing of high-quality electronic systems. This role works closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to build, diagnose, and improve aerospace-grade electronic products.

  • Troubleshoot printed circuit boards (PCBs) to the component level using schematics, drawings
  • Perform solder rework including removal and replacement of through-hole and surface-mount components, LEDs, diodes, resistors etc.
  • Support production and prototype builds of aerospace-grade electronic products
  • Troubleshoot and adjust LED brightness levels by replacing resistors to different values
  • Assist engineering with debugging, testing, and product improvements
  • Identify faulty components and assist with root cause troubleshooting
  • Follow ESD handling procedures and quality standards
  • Use basic hand tools, soldering iron, multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Document test results and communicate status updates
  • Help identify recurring issues and recommend corrective actions
  • Maintain organized workbench, tools, and test equipment
  • Maintain engineering documentation and drawing records
  • Serve as lead for Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), coordinating updates to schematics, drawings, bills of materials, and related documentation
  • Manage document control processes, including updating drawings to new revision levels and ensuring proper release and tracking of revisions

Support general engineering and production activities as needed

  • Use basic hand tools, soldering iron, multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience with PCB rework or SMT soldering
  • Familiarity with test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.)
  • Experience with Document control & Bill of Materials
  • Required Experience:
  • Background in electronics assembly or electronics technician work
  • Certifications in SMT soldering standards such as: J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, IPC-7711/7721 (Certification renewal or retraining will be provided)
  • Experience with production assembly of aerospace or similar electronics
  • Experience with electronic components and basic circuit operation/theory
  • Experience troubleshooting or adjusting LED brightness
  • Working knowledge of ESD control practices
  • Experience with engineering prototypes or low-volume production
  • PCB Troubleshoot to Component Level: 3 years (Required)
