- This role is for someone who wants to build an operating playbook for new site development – not inherit one – and execute on it
- The Director of Market Development & Operations Strategy will work directly with our CEO, Director of Operations, Director of HR, Branch Managers, and field technicians to:
Develop a standard playbook for greenfield operations, including all aspects of pre-launch preparations, launch, initial operations, and mature operating procedures, with the explicit goals of maximizing revenue growth, contribution margins, and service quality;
- Lead the launch of new greenfield locations across multiple markets; and
- Partner with the CEO and Director of Operations on other growth and operations projects, including development of training programs and integrating acquisitions
- This is a hands-on, builder-oriented role for an operator who has grown up in multi-location home services or field service businesses and wants to apply that experience to help scale a platform that is still being built
- Experience applying a similar playbook and training in acquisition situations is also beneficial
- Greenfield Operations Playbook Development:
- Evaluate existing branch-level processes across service, repair, renovation, and construction
- Design, document, and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for greenfield locations across:
- Scheduling and routing
- Technician productivity and utilization
- Equipment, fleet management, and inventory (including standardizing vendor selection, procurement processes, and ensuring consistency in the utilization of company-wide SKU codes)
- Customer communication
- Build training curriculum for field staff and partner with HR and other operations management to fill talent pipeline through new training programs
- Establish clear operating KPIs and dashboards to drive accountability and continuous improvement
- Identify inefficiencies, variability, and margin leakage at the field and branch level
- Build a scalable SOP playbook that can be rolled out consistently across future greenfield locations
- Lead operational planning for new branch launches, including:
- Market setup and readiness
- Hiring and training initial field teams
- Equipment, fleet, and inventory procurement
- Implementation of systems, SOPs, and reporting
- Own the launch-to-stabilization process, overseeing early-stage day-to-day operations to ensure new branches ramp efficiently and predictably
- Continuously refine the greenfield playbook as we expand into new markets
- Strategic Market Planning & Analysis:
- Develop local voice of the customer knowledge to inform growth strategy and decision making
- Support development of marketing campaigns in new markets utilizing internal advertising and design resources
- Track item sales velocity in new markets and maintain excel-based forecast to inform procurement decisions
- Perform various operations analysis including route density and work order quality control reviews
- Participate in and potentially lead other growth and efficiency initiatives such as apprentice program training and acquisition integration projects
- This role is intentionally designed for someone who still enjoys doing, not just delegating
- Note that most regional travel can be structured as day trips, but may include occasional overnight stays
