• This hands-on individual contributor role focuses on prototyping, front-end craft, and design systems, working closely with designers, product managers, and engineers to deliver high-quality, accessible, and scalable user experiences
• Partner with designers, product managers, and engineers to plan work, estimate timelines, set priorities, and support product planning
• UX Problem Solving
• Rapidly explore and prototype interactive concepts, particularly around emerging UX patterns and AI-ready design languages
• Deliver high-quality front-end experiences with strong attention to detail, adapting quickly to new technologies and approaches

Build and refine interactive experiences that clearly reflect GitHub’s brand vision and design standards

• Generate and iterate on solutions for complex product challenges by synthesizing user needs, technical constraints, and business insights
• Support and evolve scalable design systems, information architecture, and open-source design initiatives
• Ensure accessible, inclusive, and high-quality visual and interaction designs aligned with WCAG standards and GitHub principles
• 7+ years of experience in product or service design, or equivalent education and experience
• Strong ability to prototype and experiment with emerging UX and AI-driven design patterns
• Experience collaborating across design, product, and engineering teams
• Demonstrated expertise as an individual contributor on high-impact design initiatives
• Strong communication skills and ability to articulate design decisions clearly
• Advanced degrees or equivalent professional experience may substitute for years of experience
• Additional Skills / Nice to Have
• Modern web development experience with React, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Experience contributing to or maintaining design systems
• Knowledge of WCAG accessibility compliance and inclusive design practices

Salary $124,000 – $329,200 per year
