About the team:

Welcome to our Cost Capture Team! We specialize in developing innovative tools that revolutionize procurement cost tracking across Ocean, Air, and Trucking freight logistics - or end-to-end cost tracking. Our mission is to create cutting-edge technologies that ensure all procurement contracts are digitized, centrally available, and readily exposed to Flexport systems for optimized decision making - whether that be decisions regarding procurement benchmarking, fulfillment optimization, bill processing, P&L planning, etc. - we work across a host of internal teams as a platform team within Flexport. Our team is dedicated to tackling complex logistical challenges by leveraging comprehensive data insights, AI solutions, and automation across Flexport’s tech stack.

A successful candidate will be comfortable working alongside engineering peers and partnering with product and business stakeholders to represent technical considerations for our products. While logistics experience is a plus, it is not a requirement. We value a willingness to learn and a passion for innovation. You'll have the opportunity to expand your knowledge, work with industry experts, and contribute to impactful projects that drive efficiency and reliability in air cargo transportation.

***This role is based in Bellevue, WA, and requires in-person attendance five times a week.

• You will:
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain systems that represent the real-world intricacies of logistics entities, such as packing lists, booking notifications, and routing guides.
• Contribute to code reviews to maintain code quality, share knowledge, and learn from other team members.
• Collaborate with business partners and product managers to translate complex business problems into elegant technical solutions.
• Build highly available, secure, and distributed systems within a microservices architecture.
• Work collaboratively with peer teams on cross-team projects, building solutions that add new functionality to multiple Flexport systems.
• Rapidly build and launch products incrementally, leveraging best practices around CI/CD to facilitate development.
• Ensure high-quality standards by incorporating metrics and applying learnings from post-mortems to all services.
• You should have:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 1+ years of professional experience in full-stack development with demonstrated coding skills.
• Proficiency in modern programming languages such as Java, Python, Ruby, or Node.js.
• Proficiency with technologies like databases, API development, and testing frameworks.
• Proficiency with deploying, monitoring, and maintaining production services.
• It's a plus if you have:
• Experience with elements of our tech stack: Java, Spring Boot, Ruby on Rails, React, AWS.
• A bias for action; when you see a problem, you fix it.
• Ability to convey technical ideas in common terms to business stakeholders, product managers, and engineers alike.
• Excellent written communication skills. You will work with people all over the world with different primary languages and time zones, so great writing is key.

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range displayed, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and / or training.

• The US base salary range for this position (this does not include bonus, equity and benefits): $125,045 — $156,307 USD
