Lead the Future of Building Automation with Setpoint Field Manager Job Description Are you a hands-on, customer-focused professional who thrives in the field and loves solving complex technical challenges? Join Setpoint, a pioneering startup transforming the building automation industry with our cutting-edge Climate Intelligence system. At Setpoint, we harness the power of AI and cloud connectivity to convert aging HVAC systems into intelligent, efficient powerhouses — slashing energy and maintenance costs while delivering unmatched comfort for guests and residents. As a Field Manager at Setpoint, you will be on the front lines of our mission — working directly with customers, leading installations, and troubleshooting challenges at existing sites across the United States. This is a role for a natural relationship-builder and technical problem-solver who isn't afraid to think outside the box.
In this role, you will:
● Build strong, trusted relationships with customers, serving as the face of Setpoint on-site and ensuring they feel confident in our technology and team.
● Lead on-site installations from start to finish, providing technical expertise and hands-on guidance to ensure flawless implementation.
● Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues at existing sites, diagnosing problems quickly and delivering solutions that keep customers running smoothly.
● Recruit, negotiate with, and manage 3rd-party contractors — securing competitive pricing for installations while building long-term partnerships across multiple projects.
● Collaborate closely with the back-office Project Management team to ensure seamless coordination between field operations and project timelines.
● Gather customer feedback and share insights that drive continuous improvement of our products and processes.
To thrive in this role, you'll need:
● A bachelor's degree or equivalent hands-on work experience in a relevant technical field.
● Strong customer service skills — you know how to listen, communicate clearly, and earn trust.
● Solid electrical knowledge and the ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, specifications, and schematics.
● Proven troubleshooting skills, with the ability to think creatively and find solutions under pressure.
● Knowledge of HVAC systems and building automation technology (preferred but not required).
● Experience working with or managing 3rd-party contractors, including price negotiation and partnership development.
● Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
● Willingness and availability to travel 50% of the time across the United States.
● A collaborative mindset — you work well with diverse teams across time zones and organizational levels.
