Position Summary:JK Tobin Construction Co. is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee sitework, earthwork, and excavation projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing field operations, subcontractors, schedules, budgets, and client relationships to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to contract specifications.The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge of site development, utilities, grading, and excavation, combined with proven leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.JK Tobin provides commercial excavation and grading, utility installation, and residential housing tract development throughout the greater Syracuse area.

Project Planning & ExecutionManage all phases of sitework and excavation projects, including preconstruction planning, mobilization, execution, and closeout.Review plans, specifications, and contracts to identify scope requirements, risks, and opportunities.Develop project schedules, work plans, and sequencing strategies in coordination with GC’s/client’s needs.Cost & Budget ManagementPrepare and manage project budgets, administer subcontracts.Track job costs, productivity, and quantities; identify and address cost overrunsReview and approve invoices, subcontractor pay applications, and change ordersField CoordinationCoordinate daily activities with Superintendents, Foremen, and field crewsEnsure proper equipment, materials, and subcontractors are scheduled and availableResolve field issues related to constructability, logistics, and site conditionsClient & Stakeholder CommunicationServe as the primary point of contact for owners, general contractors, engineers, and inspectorsLead project meetings and provide regular progress updatesManage change orders, RFIs, and project documentationSafety & Quality ControlPromote and enforce JK Tobin Construction Co.’s safety policies and OSHA regulationsEnsure work is performed in compliance with plans, specifications, and quality standardsIdentify and mitigate project risks related to safety, schedule, and costDocumentation & ReportingMaintain accurate project records including schedules, daily reports, cost reports, and correspondenceTrack project milestones and prepare weekly internal project updatesSupport project closeout activities including punch lists, as-builts, and final documentation

Required:5+ years of experience managing sitework, earthwork, excavation, or heavy civil construction projectsStrong understanding of grading, utilities, erosion control, and site development processesAbility to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contractsProven experience managing budgets, schedules, and subcontractorsStrong leadership, communication, and organizational skillsProficiency with construction management software (e.g., Procore, Timberscan, Bluebeam, MS Project, Excel, Sage500)Valid driver’s licensePreferredBachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related fieldExperience working with general contractors on commercial or public projectsKnowledge of GPS grade control, takeoffs, and quantity trackingOSHA 30 certificationPhysical RequirementsAbility to visit and walk active construction sites with uneven terrainAbility to work outdoors in varying weather conditionsOccasional lifting of materials up to 25 lbs
