- This role is responsible for the end-to-end operational management of Standby Letters of Credit (SBLCs), serving as the primary point of contact for corporate finance clients throughout onboarding, structuring, documentation, and issuance
- The position requires deep hands-on experience in trade finance operations, particularly SBLCs, and close collaboration with Legal and Product teams to ensure all negotiated language complies with internal policies and external regulations
- While the role will begin as an individual contributor, it is expected to evolve into a people-management role, leading a team of approximately 10–15 professionals over time
- Client & Transaction Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for corporate finance clients utilizing SBLC products
- Lead client onboarding, including SBLC terms and conditions review
- Partner directly with clients to understand requirements and structure appropriate SBLC solutions
- Manage SBLC transactions from initial structuring through finalization, followed by handoff to downstream processing teams
- Support multiple lines of business (LOBs), requiring strong prioritization and context-switching skills
- Standby Letter of Credit Operations
- Own the operational execution and processing of SBLCs, including:
- Evergreen SBLCs
- Import and Export Letters of Credit
- Ensure all transactions comply with applicable trade finance rules and legal frameworks (e.g., ISP, UCP)
- Apply a clear understanding of UCP vs
- ISP distinctions in structuring and documentation
- Legal & Product Collaboration
- Negotiate SBLC language with clients
- Ensure documentation aligns with bank policies and regulatory standards
- Identify and resolve structuring or documentation issues early in the process
- Operational Risk & Controls
- Proactively identify potential operational and documentation risks within SBLC transactions
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, compliance requirements, and regulatory guidelines
- Act as a subject-matter expert (SME) for trade finance operations within the organization
- Support the ongoing expansion of the SBLC and trade finance operations function
