- Members serving in less than full-time roles may serve more hours per day & fewer days per week as arranged with their host site & their needs
- Full Time members are expected to serve 7.5 – 8 hours per day 5 days per week to ensure completion of their service term
- Service Hours: Monday – Saturday, hours varying between 8:00 am – 8:00 pm
- Average hours per week: 19 – 20 hours per week / 5 hour daily for 48 weeks
- Total Expected Hours: 900 hours of service
- In addition, AmeriCorps members will attend local events to promote the Digital Navigation program
- Loveland Public Library provides access to information to community members through lending physical and digital materials, educational programming, and access to informational services and resources
Digital Navigators will meet community members 1 on 1 for appointments or drop-ins at assigned sites to teach digital literacy skills, facilitate digital skills practice, or teach online learning skills; members may complete appointments virtually upon arrangement with Program and Site Staff
- During service, Digital Navigators will assess community members on their digital skills by 1) observation of digital skills task completion, 2) assessments or skills inventories, 3) in conversation about learner’s digital skills goal
- Members will accurately complete data collection paperwork for the program the day of an interaction with a learner OR log interactions daily either digitally or physically to complete paperwork at the end of the service week
Members answer questions about the program by phone/email/outreach events to inform the community about the importance of digital skills and will perform other digital literacy related tasks or attend Outreach events as assigned by Program Staff or Site Supervisor – members may be assigned tasks that align with their skillset or scheduling availability
- Throughout the service year, members will support their learners’ digital skill goals
- Support learners by appointment or during drop-ins to teach digital skills, facilitate digital skills practice, or teach online learning skills
- Maintain appointment notes including duration of interaction, learner’s needs, service or help that was provided, and outcomes of the service to report to the program
- Assess learner ability & needs through observation of digital skills task completion, assessment or skills inventory, or talking about the learner’s digital skills goal
- Maintain consistent & professional verbal & written communication with other members, Site Supervisors, Program Staff, or learners including scheduling & rescheduling learner appointments by phone or email
- Refer learners to library and/or external organizations for support outside basic digital skills such as job search or resume, library databases, and benefits websites
- Attend a monthly training day organized by Program Staff for member development
- Attend assigned Outreach events to inform the community about program services
- Members will have additional functions based on their site placement, such as Creative/Makerspace Technology, Outreach, Marketing Support, Instruction Creation, Scheduling/Phone Support, Bilingual – Spanish, or Pulse Member
- Members will receive monthly training throughout their term that will cover topics such as resume building, time management, staying safe online, & how to teach adults
- Members may participate in optional Creative Technology Training such as 3D printing, 2D/3D digitizing, Adobe Suite Basics, & CNC/Laser Engraving use/troubleshooting/maintenance
- Service occurs primarily indoors with some occasional outdoor service during Outreach events
- Regularly scheduled service occurs inside the host site building unless member has pre-arranged for Remote Service
